Conservatories

With the current recession many banks have almost completely ceased their consumer credit services, even to those of us who have no current debts or large incomes. This makes it difficult to find the money to make home improvements on any large scale, even if they will save you money in the long run. One such money saving home improvement are conservatories added on to the side of your house to help harness the power of the sun. The sun is incredibly powerful and completely free to use, so by building a room almost entirely of glass like conservatories are allows you to have a room heated entirely for free.

The problem is that conservatories can be very expensive, but they don't have to be. If it is for just you or you and your partner then you can opt for a smaller size, just large enough for a table and a couple of armchairs. The room will be just as warm as the larger conservatories, perhaps even warmer, but it will be small enough for you to build yourself.

By building the structure by yourself you will still need to buy the materials, but besides from that the only cost will be hiring a mechanical digger to do the foundations with. Of course the project would still involve a lot of work, but for a smaller sized conservatory it should only be a few weekends labour. You get super-fit in the process, and save a ton on bills when it's done by hiding in their rather than heating the house.
